SNR or SR: read the small print

The usual kind. Win and you get the profit only; the token itself vanishes. £25 SNR at 5.50 pays £112.50.

Rarer and better. The token comes back with the winnings as if it were cash, so £25 SR at 5.50 pays £137.50.

Why SNR tokens want a bigger price

Because the stake part disappears, an SNR token hurts most on short prices. At fair odds it's worth 1 − 1 ÷ odds of its face value: half at evens, 80% at 5.00, 90% at 10.0. Fire a £5 token at 2.00 and a win pays just £5. Put it on 9.00 and a win pays £40.

My sweet spot is between 4.0 and 8.0: big enough to keep most of the value, short enough that you aren't waiting forever for one to land.

Make it count

  • •Check the minimum odds. Plenty of offers only qualify above a set price. The calculator won't police that for you.
  • •Live markets work. If the terms allow in-play bets, live football throws up prices in that 4.0 to 8.0 band all match long.
  • •Singles, not accas. One strong single at 6.0 beats a five-leg acca chasing the same odds, because every extra leg adds more margin.
  • •Use the Retention figure. It shows the payout as a share of the token, so you can compare two prices at a glance.
